Real World Applications

McDonalds Plymouth WI.

American Brick Company (Ambrico), a provider of thin brick Panels and Mastic Glue.

This project involved upgrading the restaurant with thin brick materials, giving the building a refreshing, modern appearance. The company reported that they were pleased with the results, noting the improved look and long-lasting durability of the space.

Ambrico noted that thin brick is a versatile and efficient solution for a wide range of buildings, including restaurants, commercial properties, and large venues. The materials used are designed to resist weathering, fading, and cracking, while requiring minimal maintenance compared to traditional brick.

In addition to durability, thin brick installations can typically be completed much faster than conventional brickwork, often within days instead of weeks.

Based in Romeo, Michigan, Ambrico currently produces and ships panels and mastic.

St. Lukes Hospital - Kansas City MO.

American Brick Company (Ambrico) supplies thin brick panels and mastic glue, offering a cost-effective alternative to traditional brick. At St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, their thin brick veneer created the look of real masonry at a lower cost and reduced material use, while maintaining durability and elegance.

The panels, just 5/8 inch thick, were applied to the existing façade using the EZ-Wall® system—an architectural-grade, galvanized steel system with similar thermal properties to brick and mortar. This system eliminates the need for lintels, lowering project costs, and uses full-depth mortar joints for strength and a realistic appearance nearly indistinguishable from traditional brick.

Based in Romeo, Michigan, Ambrico manufactures and ships its patented thin brick panel system nationwide, offering a wide range of colors, textures, and finishes for versatile design applications.

Located in Detroit, Ford Field has been home to the city’s professional football team since 2002 and spans 1.85 million square feet. Thin brick veneer panels were installed throughout the stadium, delivering the appearance of traditional brick at a lower cost.

The panels, only 5/8 inch thick, were applied to interior and exterior surfaces, providing durability and a realistic masonry look. A variety of styles and shapes allowed for detailed architectural features, while full-depth mortar joints ensured long-term strength.

The installation was completed on time and within budget, enhancing the stadium’s bold and distinctive design.

The Mall at Partridge Creek

American Brick Company (Ambrico) supplies thin brick panels and mastic glue, offering a cost-effective alternative to traditional brick.

During construction of The Mall at Partridge Creek in Michigan, thin brick siding was used to achieve the look of traditional masonry at a lower cost. The veneer panels enhanced storefronts with durability and a warm, elegant appearance.

The development features a wide range of retail, dining, and entertainment spaces, with the brick siding adding a distinctive look. The system is available in various colors, textures, and finishes and can be used on multiple applications where full masonry would be too heavy.

The front of Victorias Secret is an example of the Ambrico Panel System and flat brick in use.

This system eliminates the need for lintels, reducing costs, while full-depth mortar joints provide strength and a realistic finish.

Ambrico’s Enhances Comerica Park, Home of the Detroit Tigers

American Brick Company (Ambrico) supplies thin brick panels and mastic glue, offering a cost-effective alternative to traditional brick.

When a new ballpark was built in Midtown Detroit, it initially lacked the authentic look of traditional masonry. Thin brick veneer panels were used to create a classic appearance while staying within budget.

The stadium features retail, office, dining, and entertainment spaces, along with open-air design and skyline views. Thin brick panels were installed around entrances and upper sections, delivering the durability and look of real brick at just 5/8 inch thick.

The panels use an architectural-grade, galvanized steel system with similar thermal properties to brick and mortar, and full-depth mortar joints ensure long-term strength. The project was completed on schedule, giving the stadium a more historic and refined appearance.

Second Baptist Church of Detroit

Located in Detroit, Michigan, in the Greektown cultural district, the historic, multi-story Baptist church and office space included three building add-ons to the original facility. The exterior facade consists of 10,000 square feet of stucco, making up 80 percent of the total surface area. Numerous windows of varying sizes and shapes enhance curb appeal on the front of the structure.

Founded in 1836, the Second Baptist Church of Detroit is the oldest African American church in Michigan, located at its current address since 1857. Situated in Detroit’s historic Greektown district, replacement of the exterior cladding would improve overall building aesthetics and also protect this facility from further deterioration due to exposure to the elements.

The church clergy sought to restore the original masonry look of the structure and meet cost targets. An earlier stucco overlay applied to the building’s original brick facade had left the surface pitted and uneven, eliminating the option of restoring the original masonry. The materials to be selected needed to produce a brick appearance, minimize cost, and without the added weight of full brick. Original architectural elements, such as the returns to window and door openings, needed to be preserved without adding significant depth.

The use of thin brick eliminated the need for lintels over doors and windows, reducing overall project cost. Additionally, the panels were completed with full depth mortar joints to ensure long-term durability and strength, indistinguishable from traditional masonry.

As a result, the restoration was completed in approximately 10 weeks, and Ambrico was able to provide Second Baptist with the warm and historically accurate look and feel they wanted—at a price within their budget.
