Washington’s Leading Resource for Thin Brick and Brick Veneer

Thin brick is a masonry veneer of low weight applied to interior and exterior walls of buildings and residences to offer the look of conventional brick at a more affordable cost and with less environmental impact. Thin brick, which is also known as faux brick, is made in the same manner as traditional brick.  Thin brick is authentic brick, it is just cut or made thinner. As only a part of the regular brick is used, the expense related to thin brick is always more affordable than full size traditional brick.

Another advantage is that installation is easier with thin brick.  When comparing to other buidling materials, thin brick is not only more aesthetically pleasing, but it requires less maintenance and is more durable than metal, wood, or vinyl siding. Siding made of metal is prone to dents and can fade over time. Siding with wood requires extra painting and can be damaged by rot, insects, warping or splitting. When tested against vinyl siding, brick veneer proved to be more durable and less likely to puncture.

It is important to note that brick veneer is a light-weight surface application primarily used for looks. Thin brick should not be considered a load bearing material and will not aid in a building’s structural strength. However, thin brick walls are self-supporting, placing no added stress on the building’s structural components. Because the thin bricks are non-structural, they can be initiated after the building’s walls and roof, with out a costly brick ledge that is required for full brick. This provides builders with a great deal of flexibility in the 99165 area.

.

In years past, the two primary techniques for installing thin brick walls were either adhered or anchored systems. The anchored system relies on brick ties or angle brackets to secure the brick veneer wall to a building’s structural frame. The adhered system employs a small layer of mortar to attach the brick veneer to the structure and does not require using brick ties or anchors. These old-fashioned methods for installing thin brick are becoming out-dated thanks to Ambrico’s EZ Wall® Engineered Thin Brick System. The EZ Wall System is fast and easy to install and features robust panels that give the greatest durability and strength offered from a thin brick installation technique.

While installing brick veneer is easier than a regular brick wall, it is not recommended as a job for amateur  homeowners without professional contracting experience.  All of the professionals that Ambrico uses have successfully completed the Ambrico EZ-Wall certification process, offered by the United States Thin Masonry Association (USTMA). We will be happy to assist in all thin brick projects in Pullman.
