Washington’s Leading Resource for Thin Brick and Brick Veneer

Thin brick is a masonry veneer of low weight applied to interior and exterior walls of homes and commercial buildings to give the appearance of traditional brick at a fraction of the cost and lower impact to the environment. Thin brick, which is also known as faux brick, is made from a combination of clay, gravel and cement.  Thin brick is authentic brick, it’s simply made or cut thinner. As only a portion of the brick is used, the cost of thin brick is usually more affordable than traditional full-thickness bricks.

Another advantage is that installation is easier with thin brick.  In comparison to other building materials, thin brick is deemed more visually appealing by most people, and it requires less maintenance and is more durable than vinyl, metal or wood siding. Siding made of metal is prone to dents and can fade with time. Wood siding requires extra painting and can be damaged by rot, insects, warping or splitting. When tested against vinyl siding, brick veneer proved to be more durable and less likely to puncture.

It should be noted that brick veneer is a lightweight covering material used primarily for looks. Thin brick should not be considered a load bearing product and will not help a building’s structural integrity. Brick Veneer walls are, however self-supporting, putting zero additional stress on the structural components of the building. As the veneer walls are not structural, they can be initiated after the structure’s roof and walls, with out an expensive brick ledge which is required for traditional brick. This provides a great deal of flexibility for builders in the 98929 area.

In years past, the two basic methods for installing thin brick walls were either adhered or anchored systems. The anchored system requires angle brackets or brick ties to attache the brick veneer wall to a building’s structural frame. The adhered system uses a light layer of mortar to attach the brick veneer to the frame and does not require using anchors or brick ties. These old-fashioned methods for installing thin brick are becoming out-dated thanks to our EZ Wall® Engineered Thin Brick System. The E-Z Wall System is fast and easy to install and incorporates robust panels that give the greatest strength and durability available in a thin brick installation technique.

While thin brick installation is easier than a regular brick wall, it is not recommended as a job for non-experienced contractors or homeowners.  All of the contractors that we use have successfully passed the Ambrico EZ-Wall certification process, offered by the United States Thin Masonry Association (USTMA). We will be happy to help in all thin brick installs in Naches.

Ambrico’s EZ Wall System is an ideal choice for replacing the existing façade of a structure because it can be put on structures built with synthetic stucco, lightweight stone veneer, wood, aluminum or vinyl siding. While most often utilized on remodeling applications, this brick veneer system can also be used in new construction where the weight of regular masonry is too heavy. The EZ Wall Engineered Thin Brick System is available with a wide selection of brick colors, textures and finishes to complement the site requirements and design of any siding job. The brick veneer options stretch from very traditional looks to ultra contemporary designs.  Special shapes of brick veneer are available to create cornices, sills. and other cool architectural details.
